While most people are still waiting for Motorola to launch their first Android-powered smartphone, another intriguing handset was unveiled. The full-touchscreen slider Motorola ROKR ZN50 has nothing to do with Android, but is still interesting enough to make it in the news.
Motorola may be panning its revival hopes on the upcoming Android smartphones, but it still manages to announce a new handset occasionally. The Motorola ROKR ZN50, a slider handset with a 3.2-inch 256K TFT touchscreen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 240 x 427 pixels, a 3MP autofocus built-in camera, GPS receiver and a T-DMB2 digital TV tuner, is the first full-touchscreen music slider phone by the American company. It seems that the design is inspired by the Nokia XpressMusic lineup with its blue and red accents, only that it is much hotter looking.
Motorola ROKR ZN50 has a new Panorama UI, which looks surprisingly Android-like in its general layout and feel. That Panorama interface is featuring three homescreens that user can freely fill up with the load of widgets available. Elsewhere there’s triband 900/1800/1900 GSM and 2100MHz WCDMA for up to 7.2Mbps HSDPA, together with USB 2.0, Bluetooth 2.0 and a 3.5mm headphones jack.
The Motorola ROKR ZN50, which measures 108.9 x 54 x 14.34 mm and weighs the hefty 143 g, is also powered with SRS WOW HD sound system and tweakable EQ settings, and a microSD slot good for up to 16GB cards, which ensure you to have enough room for all your favorite tracks. The handset comes with a 950mAh battery, which allows up to 30 h non-stop music playback. DoubleDT.Com cannot quite understand about the Motorola ROKR ZN50 is why it will only be available for the Korean market. How awesome would this be hitting North America with Android?
