Samsung i897 Captivate

Recently, AT&T just informed pricing and target availability for their top-line product, the Android-running Samsung i897 Captivate, and it will beat the T-Mobile version by a few days and will probably become the first Galaxy S to hit the US market.

The Samsung i897 Captivate is the newest Android-running addition to Samsung Galaxy lineup, will be coming to the AT&T network. The phone will also be the network’s most powerful Android phone, other than iPhone. The Samsung i897 Captivate is going on sale next Sunday, July 18 and it will cost US$199.99 on a two-year contract. Looks aside, the Captivate is an exact duplicate of the Samsung I9000 Galaxy S (with AT&T 3G bands of course).

To summarize the specs, the Samsung i897 Captivate has a 4″ WVGA Super-AMOLED touch-screen, 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird CPU (which is designed to make for quick upload and download times), a 16GB of on-board storage that’s expandable to 32GB, 5MP built-in camera with HD video recording (at 720p), and an accelerometer and gyroscope for a physical-but-fluid gaming experience. Moreover, this newest product can connect to tri-band 3G networks or quad-band GSM, and there’s also 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity.

The T-Mobile Galaxy S phone, the Samsung Vibrant is coming a few days later - July 21, again for US$199.99. And CDMA carriers are getting a Galaxy S too (like the Sprint Epic 4G which has a hardware QWERTY), though we do not have the availability dates yet.
