Samsung Electronics has officially reported that the company will release its first Google smart phone in the second quarter of the next year in North America. The plan is regarded as a signal of its Samsung’s plan for increasing the shares in the smart phone market by releasing handsets in various operating systems.
According to the sources over the net, Samsung has joined the Android group led by Google to compete with other mobile platforms such as MS Windows Mobile, Nokia’s Symbian, LiMo and Apple’s Mac OS X. Moreover, Samsung Electronics is currently in the development process of its new Google smart phone to release out in the second quarter of the next year via T-Mobile USA and Sprint Nextel in North America.
Samsung Electronics has organized a task force team a year ago to develop a Google smart phone. Samsung Electronics is predicted to select a full touch screen smart phone for a form factor of its Google smart phone, the one that it adapted to Omnia and Instinct. Moreover, the Samsung’s smart phone will feature the Google Map based location information service, messenger G-Talk, the G-mail application and Google Search.
It seems that the competition for the hegemony in the smart phone market as well as the mobile OS market is likely to become fierce. On the other hand, in the smart phone operating systems market, the traditional group like Windows Mobile and Symbian is losing its shares while Apple with its Mac OS X and Android are emerging.
On the other hand, if Samsung Electronics can able to show impressive performances in the sales of Google smart phone with its competitiveness in product quality and design, its competitors in the smart phone’s operating systems as well as the cell phone manufacturing will quickly come up with responding measures.
Currently, HTC, a Taiwanese cell phone manufacturer, only released a Google smart phone, G1. G1 has been assessed to have poor design and quality. That is why Samsung’s full touch screen Google smart phone is drawing attention from the mobile phone market.
